Product Description

Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) is a water-soluble polymer derived from cellulose by etherification, substituting the hydroxyl groups with carboxymethyl groups on the cellulose chain. It is readily dissolved in both hot and cold water and can be produced in various chemical and physical properties.

Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose Detergent Grade is used in cream and powder types detergent products and soap making industry as stabilizing agent and thickening agent.

Key Features

  • Anionic Polyelectrolyte: Gives it unique interactions with other substances in detergents.
  • Anti-Redeposition Agent: Prevents removed dirt from re-depositing onto fabrics during washing.
  • Thickening and Stabilizing Agent: Increases viscosity and prevents settling or separation in liquid detergents.
  • Soil Suspension: Helps to keep dirt particles suspended in the wash water.

Typical Applications in Detergents

  • Powder Detergents: Improves powder flow and prevents caking.
  • Liquid Detergents: Provides thickening and stabilization.
  • Detergent Bars: Improves bar hardness and reduces cracking.

General Properties of Detergent Grade CMC

  • High Degree of Substitution (DS): Enhances its anti-redeposition properties.
  • Moderate to High Viscosity: Provides desired thickening in liquid formulations.
  • Excellent Water Solubility: Ensures quick and complete dissolution in wash water.
  • Compatibility: Works well with various surfactants, enzymes, and other detergent ingredients.
  • Calcium Sequestration: Can help to soften water by binding calcium ions.

Application

Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose Detergent Grade can prevent dirt re-sticking removed by detergent during the cleaning rinsing process.

In soap making industry, to add an appropriate amount of CMC detergent grade helps to greatly enhance quality of soap. It enables soap to be pliable and flexible and easy for pressing and processing.

The principle is that the dirts with negative electricity have electrostatic repulsion each other with CMC molecules which adsorbs on the fabrics with electric charge.

In addition, Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose Detergent Grade also can make washed slurry or soap lye efficiently thicken and make the structure of components stable.
